I am Vanessa Estol, a mountaineer and model from Uruguay. I wanted to share a recent experience I had at the Mountain Hardwear booth in Denver during the Winter Outdoor Retailer event. I visited on Friday, November 9th around 4-5 pm to explore new gear for my Himalayan expeditions. Unfortunately, I felt unwelcome due to an encounter with a lady at the front table who insisted I needed an appointment to enter, even though there were only around 10 people inside. Despite explaining that I didn't have a business card for an appointment, I was met with condescension. As English isn't my first language, my friend helped with translations. When I returned later to get her name, she had already left. I respect event rules but her rude behavior made me feel unwelcome and like I had done something wrong. I just wanted to share my experience.
